well at first alloys in tpt did resemble real life alloys, but as they evolved over time they have strayed increasingly farther from what they originally resembled

i think the main reason they are called alloys is because of the layering, idk if the strength/durability matters in the naming

To be fair most "alloys" in TPT these days I would personally call composites, but people have come to know them as alloys so we are pretty stuck with the name now.

the first alloys were designed like real materials, but the name stuck which is why near indestructable materials are almost always called alloys
